bedsheets

This collection is inspired by the feeling of a loss that makes you never want to get out of bed. The concept came as a result of the three photographs in the first slide, which I both took and manipulated digitally. I wanted to focus on the actual imagery of bedsheets wrapped around the body, and decided to contrast this idea with ultrasuede in order to provide a material juxtaposition. The plastic sheeting serves as an additional material element while also representing the nakedness and emptiness associated with loss. The accent colors I chose are also conceptually driven: the color yellow represented loss in ancient Egyptian culture, while blue represents the same idea in western culture today.
